Welcome to Peak Tracker. Your privacy is as paramount to us as the summit is to a climber. This Privacy Policy outlines how we handle your data as you chart your expeditions across the globe. We operate on a fundamental principle: your journey is yours alone.
1. No Account Required
We believe in barrier-free exploration. You are not required to create an account, provide an email address, or set a password to use Peak Tracker. All features are accessible immediately upon installation.
2. Information Collection and Storage
We adopt a "Local First" approach to data storage.
- Local Data: All your climbing logs, photos, statistics, and personal goals are stored directly on your device's internal database (IndexedDB). We do not automatically upload this data to any cloud server.
- Voluntary Input: We collect only the information you choose to enter, such as peak names, dates, weather conditions, and personal notes.
- Photos: Images you attach to your logs remain on your device. We do not have access to your camera roll outside of the specific files you select.
3. Usage of Information
The limited data the app processes is used strictly for:
- Functionality: Displaying your dashboard, mapping your conquered peaks, and calculating your annual progress.
- In-App Purchases: Processing coin transactions via Apple App Store or Google Play Store. We receive only transaction receipts, not your financial details.
- Safety Memos: Generating PDF exports of your itinerary upon your explicit request.
4. Third-Party Services
While we do not sell your data, we may use trusted third-party services for essential infrastructure:
- Map Data: We utilize open-source mapping libraries (e.g., Leaflet, OpenStreetMap) to visualize locations.
- Payment Processors: All financial transactions are handled securely by the respective app store providers (Apple/Google).
5. Data Security
We implement industry-standard encryption protocols to protect the app's integrity. However, since your data resides on your device, the security of your information also depends on the security of your device (e.g., passcode, biometrics).
6. Children's Privacy
Peak Tracker is intended for general audiences and mountaineering enthusiasts. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. If you are a parent and believe your child has provided us with data, please contact us.
7. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal data is collected and to request deletion. Since we do not store user data on central servers, you have full control to delete your data at any time simply by uninstalling the app or clearing the app storage in your device settings.
8. Changes to This Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page. You are advised to review this Privacy Policy periodically for any changes.
